I have an external file I have linked to my course. I can see the file in my External_Files folder of my published course, but when I click on the link, it doesn't open the file. My trigger is "Jump to URL/File _____________ when user clicks the text _____________
Are you testing locally (on your harddrive)? If yes, then the links are probably blocked by Flash security settings. Either publish to CD or publish for web, upload to some server (or an alternative like DropBox or GoogleDrive) and test again.
