Linking from Storyline to a PDF that is uploaded to Player Resource

I have 4 PDFs in the Player Resource section, I am pretty certain that I was able to link from the slide/scene in Storyline, to the resource using a button. Since it isn't a URL/file it is a file in the Resource in Storyline, is there a linking format for doing this. I know I have done it in the past before using Storyline 360.

I'd like to add that in order for me to get this to work, I had to have the Resources tab active/visible in the player. I'd unchecked Resources, and the link on the page didn't work until I checked it. Originally I didn't want a Resources tab but if that's the only way to get the PDF to show when clicking on the trigger on a page, I'll have to do it! Thank you!

Add a slide to your course that isn't accessible by the learner (i.e. there is no way to navigate to it) and then edit the slide properties to make the Resource tab visible on only that slide.

That way, you get your resources, without the tab being visible.

Hi Matthew,

I have been searching for someone who may help with two things in Storyline 360 that maybe someone who has expertise in coding may be helpful in.  A lot of my courses involve users to have to read a PDF or visit a URL before proceeding:

1. Instead of using a resource tab using the modern player, Is there a way users can select a PDF in a scene without the PDF opening in a new window? A lot of end users do not know they need to close a tab once opening a PDF (even though there are direction on the scene, this may open up in a new window).

2. Same question this time for a URL, is there a coding that someone knows of so users do not have to leave the course to go to another site? Same issue users who take the courses do not all realize they must close the tab the url takes them to return to the course, even with explicit directions.   Again I am building course using the modern player.
