Is there a way to upload a file into the resources area, and then rather than use the build in resources tab in the player, trigger that same behavior on an object?
Hi, Ari -- Please bear with me if I am not understanding your query correctly, and I'd like to ask a few questions for clarification. Did you want a trigger to make the resource tab appear rather than have it in the player? Or did you want to link a button or such to the resource tab so it only opens at a certain time? Unfortunately, I don't think either option will be possible.
What you may want to try is using a lightbox as described here. Otherwise, maybe some members of the community will be able to chime in with some ideas you can try! :)
It doesn't seem to want to work for me. Do i need to publish first to move the document into the story content folder.
RIght now I don't when I click on the link it doesn't do anything, any of the other links to external elements, come back as not available during preview, which is good that means they work.
Yup - you won't be able to open links to URLs or hyperlinks as a part of the preview, and you can read about other things that don't work in Preview here.
The story_content folder doesn't exist until you publish, but since publishing will create the same file structure including that folder each time, you can just utilize that method and text to include the link - but you won't be able to test or utilize it until you publish and then test within the intended publish environment.

Thanks Christie,
I was hoping to just put the PDF on a slide and have it availalbe in the same way that it would be if I placed it in the resources tab.
I was taking a long shot here, and to create a resource lightbox doesn't accomplish the goal i was trying to hit.
thanks.
Sounds like you want to setup a trigger, where clicking the item makes it behave like a hyperlink?
See below:
Hi Ari,
You can also link to a file in the Resource section of the player within a slide as described here.
Hope that helps.
thanks Ashley,
