Linking video to a button and making it open in a new window.
May 18, 2017
What I want to do:
I will create a button on a slide and link a video (MP4) to it, adding a trigger (may be jump to URL/File). When I click the button the video should open and play (automatically) in a new window (should be able to play in a web browser) in its original size (1920x1080 in my case). My slides are 1280x720 and therefore I do not want to embed the video reducing its size. And it should work on LMS.
It works fine in Captivate: Under Actions, browse and select the video on local drive. And copy the same video to the published folder. Zip the published file and upload to LMS. It also works locally.
In Articulate Storyline 3- Does it work in the same way? I tried, but it didn't work locally (add trigger Jump to URL/Flie>Select the video on local drive>Copy the same video to the published (SCORM 1.2) folder). Not sure if it works on LMS. I am moving back to Storyline, leaving Captivate and therefore this is very important to me.

Hi Vinyasa,
Thanks for your post! It sounds like you may have tested the published output locally--try testing it in a learning management system instead. SCORM Cloud is industry standard for LMS testing, and it's free!
Let me know if you're still not seeing the video in SCORM Cloud, and we'll keep troubleshooting.
I found a way! Now it works both locally and on LMS! It doesn't work as in Captivate. I had to create a SCORM package of the video (that I wanted to open in a new window) and copy the folder to the published folder. And add trigger to the button>Jump to URL/File>Video Folder Name/story.html. Zip everything and upload to LMS. Working :)
Glad you're all sorted, Vinyasa!
