Links break when I publish
Aug 15, 2014
I've created a course and published as an html file.
I have 5 or 6 links in the course that go to various public locations such as government websites, or documents on our company's website.
The links work perfectly when I test them in Storyline before I publish.
However, once I publish then when I click on the links nothing happens.
The same thing happens even if I publish as a SCORM file too - not just html.
Here are a couple of the links that work in the Storyline file, but not in the published version:
· http://oig.hhs.gov/compliance/compliance-guidance/compliance-resource-material.asp#hcb
· http://www.hcca-info.org/Resources/ResourceOverview/ExpertVideos.aspx
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
Thank you for your help!
Julie

Hi Julie,
We had similar issues with some of our courses. We finally just added them to the Resources area and indicated in our audio and on the slide that is where they should go to find the link.
Not really a resolution for your issue, but at least an alternative.
Good luck!
Steffanie
Thanks, Steffanie - I will use that as my contingency plan!!! Good idea.

Hi Julie,
I'm sorry to hear about your links - when you're doing your testing, where are you testing the published content? You'll want to test within the intended environment, as testing web or LMS published content locally you may encounter security restrictions that would cause elements of your content to fail. That is further described in this article and there are a few web server options that you could use as testing options within that article as well.
