LMS Not recording a grade
Jun 18, 2012
We've downloaded Storyline to test out, and have set up a course but it's not recording a grade :( (Firefox & IE 9)
We have a number of questions, and a results slide, the results slide is configured to take all of the questions for results...publishing settings are the same as our other courses; scorm 1.2, under tracking we've set 'Track Using Quiz Result' and set our Result Slide in the dropdown...
Our installation into our LMS (Syberworks) is setup the same as other basic scorm courses
Any idea where I might start looking for a fix for this? If I can supply any other relevant information, I'd be happy to Would love to get Storyline running, it's so easy to use and the HTML5 output is fantastic.

I should add, one strange bug I am seeing in both browsers, is on my results slide....where I should be seeing my result value, I am seeing instead:
"%Results.ScorePercent%% (%Results.ScorePoints% points"
If SCORM, I might be tempted to first head over to the SCORM Cloud, create a free account, and test the course there. Sometimes good to test in another, independent system.
Based on the results there, it may indicate a problem with the course or possibly with the LMS (if it works fine in the SCORM Cloud).
During the Storyline BETA I had the same problem with my first published course and I found that linking to the story.html file does not record scores in our LMS. The course played perfectly otherwise, but it did not track any progress. So we tried linking to the 'index_lms.html' and Voila it works properly.
So try testing this by linking to the 'index_lms.html' rather than the 'story.html'. If it records the score then send the case to Articulate and/or your LMS support.
Well how about that....sure enough, pointing to index_lms.html rather than story.html does solve that issue...
I guess that completely throws out the whole browser checking, delivering content based on OS check that happens in story.html though hey? :(
And thanks Gerry, I did try it out on the SCORM Cloud and it recorded a grade....nice to know know that the course isn't the problem.
Cheers you guys - really appreciate the help
I'm not sure if it is an Articulate issue or an LMS issue. I would report it to Articulate support first and see what they think. I am not familiar with Syberworks, but you may want to check if they support HTML5. We are still pointing to index_lms because our LMS and Extranet do not yet fully support HTML5.
Hi Everyone,
I am having the same issue with the completion status and scores. i am trying to link index_lms.html file and its not even running the course. Only file that are working are story.html or launcher .html.
can some one help me ?
Welcome to Heroes, Atif!
Mind submitting a case and sending us the .story file so we can try to replicate your issue? Thanks!
I, like Jeremy, amd also using the Syberworks LMS and I am having the same problems. After dealing with their help desk, I was told,
"Looking at our SCORM debug logs, we see that the second lesson (the content lesson) never sends the LMS a score. The lesson sends a "Pass" status, but never a grade."
Anyone have any idea how to get a storyline project that uses the 'number of slides viewed' option to complete the slide to post a grade rather than just passed?
Tracking this discussion....we are going back to test this again...hopefully we can resolve it
Justin- My preference would be for me to not have a quiz, but it looks like that may have to be the way I need to go.
Hi Kai.
Completion by slides viewed is not percentage based. If that is what your LMS is looking for in terms of a score then quiz results would be the way to go. You could even do a simple one slide true false quiz at the end of the course asking them if they are done and make the answers Yes or No. If they say Yes, they get 100%. If no, then they would get an incomplete. It depends on how you wanted to approach it.
