LMS Not recording a grade

Jun 18, 2012

We've downloaded Storyline to test out, and have set up a course but it's not recording a grade :(   (Firefox & IE 9)

We have a number of questions, and a results slide, the results slide is configured to take all of the questions for results...publishing settings are the same as our other courses; scorm 1.2,  under tracking we've set  'Track Using Quiz Result' and set our Result Slide in the dropdown...

Our installation into our LMS (Syberworks) is setup the same as other basic scorm courses

Any idea where I might start looking for a fix for this?   If I can supply any other relevant information, I'd be happy to     Would love to get Storyline running, it's so easy to use and the HTML5 output is fantastic.

During the Storyline BETA I had the same problem with my first published course and I found that linking to the story.html file does not record scores in our LMS.  The course played perfectly otherwise, but it did not track any progress.  So we tried linking to the 'index_lms.html' and Voila it works properly.

So try testing this by linking to the 'index_lms.html' rather than the 'story.html'.  If it records the score then send the case to Articulate and/or your LMS support.

I'm not sure if it is an Articulate issue or an LMS issue.  I would report it to Articulate support first and see what they think.   I am not familiar with Syberworks, but you may want to check if they support HTML5.  We are still pointing to index_lms because our LMS and Extranet do not yet fully support HTML5.

I, like Jeremy, amd also using the Syberworks LMS and I am having the same problems. After dealing with their help desk, I was told,

"Looking at our SCORM debug logs, we see that the second lesson (the content lesson) never sends the LMS a score. The lesson sends a "Pass" status, but never a grade."

Anyone have any idea how to get a storyline project that uses the 'number of slides viewed' option to complete the slide to post a grade rather than just passed?

Provided you have a quiz, you can track by the quiz instead of slides viewed per this tutorial.

Justin- My preference would be for me to not have a quiz, but it looks like that may have to be the way I need to go.

Hi Kai.

Completion by slides viewed is not percentage based. If that is what your LMS is looking for in terms of a score then quiz results would be the way to go. You could even do a simple one slide true false quiz at the end of the course asking them if they are done and make the answers Yes or No. If they say Yes, they get 100%. If no, then they would get an incomplete. It depends on how you wanted to approach it.
