LMS Rejecting HTML5 only re-published Articulate storyline scorm

Jul 22, 2020

Hi,

In preparation for the flash no longer being supported in Articulate by December this year and my company rolling over to Windows10 (so experiencing operating system/browser incompatibility with scorm that has flash content even if it's in  html5/flash hybrid format) my dept is republishing all our Storyline elearns to html5 only format.  I have already republished several with no issue but just had our LMS reject an upload of an html5 only published version even though it accepted the html5/flash version that was uploaded last year - giving a "The content package is invalid" error.  I have tried republishing it twice and importing it several times to the LMS with the same result.  Any hints/pointers gratefully accepted.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your speedy reply. Yes, you are 100% correct, the output file is missing it's imsmanifest .xml file (as per screenshot below) and perhaps a few othr files.... The 2nd screenshot is from an elearn I created last year and just republished . It has quite a few more files in the top level folder. I've never really paid much attention the various output files other than the story.html file for easy previewing. This particular elearn was created in 2017 by another team member who left suddenly and we had to go searching for where she had filed the last project she was working on. Do you know what circumstances result in a missing imsmanifest file and/or if anything can be done to resolve the republish issue?

Successful republish of another elearn

Hi Helen, I can't see the screen shots for some reason, but my guess if that the content is not being published for LMS (SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004). Take a look at the publish settings for the file that is working, and match the publish settings. You should find you get all the extra files requied (manifest and *.xsd files)

Hi Sam,

I went back into the Storyline file to check the settings (as we always publish to scorm 1.2) and even took a screenshot to save as an attachment (I just pasted into my reply before) to show all settings were intact and I though while I was there I may as well republish again just to test it one more time......and this time it is all intact - the imsmanifest file is a beautiful thing :) and uploaded to the LMS AOK this time. Not sure why that re-publish was different (unless patchy bandwidth during publishing could impact...) but I'm just glad it was.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Kind Regards
