LMS reporting error with Storyline course

May 15, 2013

I'm wondering how I can fix this apparent bug in Storyline: I created a simple course that has 3 introductory slides, 5 quiz slides, and a results slide. When I tested the course in an LMS (Saba) test environment, the course behaves as expected if I take it from beginning to end.

But if I exit from the course before taking the quiz, the completion status that gets reported to the LMS is "unsuccessful" and the course listing is removed from My Enrollments. In this case the LMS should report that I attempted the course, and it should remain listed in My Enrollments so I can launch it again to finish it.

My publish settings include LMS output to SCORM 1.2, report status to LMS as Passed/Incomplete, and tracking is done using the results slide.

Can anyone suggest a solution? Thank you.

Hi Dave,

Intriguing!

I have hunted around and found the following thread from 2012:

It appears that there is an inconsistency in how Saba handles pass/incomplete. It appears Saba sees the incomplete as the user actually getting a 0 therefore failing the course. There appears to be a workaround in the above thread however I am not proficient with Saba so it may be a crock lol

Hi Adrian, thanks for finding that thread and for your quick response.

I followed the instructions in Articulate-Storyline-to-SCORM-1-2-and-Saba.docx, created a new course, and deployed it to the LMS test site. Now I have a different problem.

I enrolled in the course so that its name appears in My Enrollments, but no "Launch Now" link appears next to the course title, and there's no "Launch" link anywhere in the LMS where the link should be.
