LMS reporting in Storyline- does it even work?
Jul 30, 2013
Hello
I have scorm courses loaded to Moodle. I see very indifferent results in getting the results of questions built in storyline recorded.
for one, the format of the recording of results as question and then the student answer is best case a series of
CMI logic calls. I note only up to 9 CMI interactions (I suspect this is a magic number - eg 9 is the max questions)
Mostly unusable by teachers who would want a clear report as a question as asked, followed by text.
Mostly you don't even get the CMI calls and simply a raw score based on whether you set highest grade in Moodle or learning object ... which teachers can't use.
my background is Mainframe and SAP systems programming so I have half a clue.
I am led to believe by all accounts that reporting of results is at best just the dump of CMI calls over LMS which would place SCORM in the "why bother as you can't get results" department. This makes no sense clearly so there must be a way to get decent results as otherwise 10 years of SCORM has resulted in teachers not using it for grading ... or simpky not using it.
So .. who has reporting working for Scorm 1.2 SCO's into an LMS (moodle if poss) and do you get decent results?
A fundamental question.

Never had a problem with moodle and scorm 1.2 reports grade and result as well as the interaction data, ages well as more than 9 Qs.
Support for SCORM varies a lot depending on the Moodle version you are using - Moodle 2.3 and higher contain an "interactions" report which presents the information in a more useful manner and allows easy export - prior to 2.3 reporting was very basic.
