Location of Storyline 2 Templates, Players, Themes, etc.

I found out while working at home last weekend with my work laptop, when my Storyline 2 was installed by our IT department the .storytemplate files are being saved to a network drive (H:\\my Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates) instead of on the c:drive.  So when I was at home and not connected to the network I couldn't access my templates.

I've talked to our IT person and asked if he would re-install and have the templates save to the c:drive and he said he will.

Before he does, what I'd like to know is where on the c:drive should all of the templates, players, color schemes, etc., files be saving to?

Templates - Is this path correct?

C:\Users\%userprofile%\Documents\My Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates

Players - Is this path correct?


Themes - path?

Hi Melanie!

I think it's in the app roaming folder.  At least it is on my machine.  Here's a cool tip (and I apologize if you already know this!).  

If you go to the design tab and click on the down arrow (see attached image), it will open up the opportunity to save or browse for themes.  If you click the browse for themes icon, you should be able to see the path in the window that opens.

Thanks Mike. Yes, I can see the path of where my current theme files are. But my problem is that it is going to the network H:drive, and it shouldn't be.

So should the theme and the player files both be saved to the app roaming folder named payer on the c:drive? The storytemplate should be saved to the documents\projects\templates path on the c:drive?

I want to be sure because if the IT person offered to reinstall to do this for me, I need more than "I think".

Yes, the Themes should be saved here:  C:\Users\%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Articulate\Storyline\Themes

Templates: %userprofile%\Documents\My Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates

Player files:

  • Windows Vista or later
  • Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Articulate\Shared\2.0\Players
