Lock a question in the Question Draw

Oct 13, 2014

Hello everybody,

There is a function "Lock a question" and it is said this affects how the questions will be shuffled (if you choose to randomize the questions when you draw them into your story).

I'd like to ask you how this affects the shuffle? I want some questions to be asked more frequently than others. So if i lock some questions the probability that they will be chosen for the quiz will be higher or what?

Hi Mikhail!

Yes, it can impact the shuffle. I'm not sure if it can affect the probability as you were asking about though.

For example:

Question 6 is locked to bottom of Question 5: If question 5 is chosen in shuffle, then question 6 WILL be presented to user (but you have nothing to insure that 5 will be chosen). Question 6 will also not be shown independently of question 5 as locking them indicates that they are dependent on one another.

I hope that helps a bit

Just following up on this - does the locking of questions assure that they will appear in a certain order? I have a number of 'sets' of questions - so 5 questions will be about the same scenario and have to appear in order. So I want Storyline to randomly choose between 4 'starting questions' to be automatically followed by 4 extra questions belonging to it.

So a total of 10 questions in the draw would effectively be a choice of 2 from 4 questions - as the other 8 would be automatically selected as belonging to the starting ones.

Gee - this sounds much more complicated written down than it really is.
