I have a slide with audio on it, and then the video plays after the audio completes. My stakeholder wants to set the screen so that the option to click NEXT is not available until the video has completed.
I also have this same request for embedded flash activities (is the process different there?)
You could use a True/False variable that starts out as False and is set to True when media (the video) completes. Then, add a condition to the Next button's trigger so that clicking the button only jumps to the next slide if this variable is true. See below a sample trigger setup.
Dear Michael: Thank you for your help...however, I have never done a variable before, and I find the tutorial confusing. I am attaching 2 slides images here. What I am trying to do is:
1. I have the audio play, then when it completes, the video plays. (DONE, all fine).
I don't want the player controls "next" "previous" to be available until the VIDEO is done. (I know how to remove navigation controls). I just don't know how to make them show up only when the video ends?
Creating the variable is REALLY confusing -- I think if I had a step by step of my project, I would understand it better. Is there any to provide step-by-step with images of what I am trying to do? The generic tutorial is confusing, personally, to me.
The player buttons for next/previous can't be hidden so they'll exist the entire time on the slide - but as Michael mentioned you can stop the user from using them until a particular condition has been met. This tutorial walks you through how to set that up and if you'd like the buttons to be invisible until the video finishes you'll need to create custom next/previous buttons with a variety of states.
