Locking screen size or iPad HTML 5

May 14, 2015

Hi!

Ive created content which is intended for use on PC but it would be nice for it to work on mobile devices too. Currently testing it out on the iPad and it works well.

The only thing I really want is to stop people from being able to move the screen about in their browser, if you can imagine an iPad when you go to refresh the app store, you are able to pull it down and there is no content there, I think they just like it for design purposes. I know this can be done as I have access to another course which does this.

Currently the content I have produced is a really nice fit for iPad, taking up the entire browser screen when it loads, I just need to stop the user being able to move the content around, they cannot currently move it left or right, just up or down.

I know this can be done as I have access to another course which does this, im just not sure how to do it.

Thank you in advance,

Callum Fleming

Hi Callum,

The mobile player can have LMS content if you can publish for Tin Can API as described here.

Also, our HTML5 output doesn't support gestures,  but I don't know that I've just seen the screen moving around. Is it a drag and drop screen? Could you share a link to the course so that I could look at it on my iPad too?

I am experiencing the same issue on an iPad with any module I develop using Articulate Storyline. The user can move the screen around horizontally. This can be especially distracting with our target population (children). We use a lot of drag-and-drops activities, if for any reason the child doesn't position his/her finger on top of the draggable item and initiates a drag, the whole screen moves horizontally and springs back into the original position. It seems that the Storyline module is correctly locked into position vertically but not horizontally. Can you please fix this issue?

Thank you.

Hi Oscar,

This discussion is a bit older, so I'd like to start from scratch and get some more info!

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • What iOS and iPad version are you viewing it on?
  • Are you viewing the content in the HTML5 output of the browser or within the Articulate Mobile player?

If you can think of any other info I may need to test this out, feel free to share that too. If you're able to share a link or even your .story file that would help also.
