Look of Storyline when editing

Hi
I am very new to storyline, and find that when I start a new project, the screen that I have to work in has a white square which is hard up against the left edge, and a shaded square (grey) that is centred in the middle of the work area.
When I bring in objects and align them to the white square, they do not all show in the preview. If I align the objects to where the grey shaded square is, they show properly in preview. This makes it difficult for me as nothing is lining up. Is there something I can fix in settings perhaps to rectify this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Fiona,
it could be a color depth issue.
See this screenr for more information
Although the screenr discusses the remote desktop issue, it might also solve your case

Hey Fiona,
Geert is likely right on with his diagnosis. Here's more info, including a step-by-step guide to resolve it.
