Looking for better simulation software

Oct 20, 2016

hi all,

I have been using the Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate to do software simulations. But right now I am looking for something more robust. For example, in the software simulation when you click on the button it will know what is the title of the button, or when you click on the text field it will know what is the title of the text field. Any suggestions or inputs are welcome.

Regards,

-Ben

hi Ben,  the staff here probably aren't going to recommend an alternative, however what you describe should have a work around in Storyline.  It seems to me those are things Storyline can do with additional triggers.  If you have an example of what you'd like to achieve in a .story or even some images, I think we can help.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your response. I was actually start wondering if nobody read my post. It usually got a quick response. Anyway I don't have any example right now. We are just looking something that robust that we don't have to manually insert the button title, text field title for example. We can do the capture off the Storyline and then import it as video to Storyline. Anyway, I am hoping someone can recommend something.

As far as I know Storyline and Captivate are the only programs that create simulations on the fly.  You could build something more robust in Adobe Animate, but you'd have to compile all the screen shots and video separately, then either program it in JS  for Html5, or actionScript for flash.   Camtasia can use hotspots and hide and unhide the cursor, but it can't do the id logic either.

Anyone else want to chime in?
