Loss of connectivity where no completion is sent

May 10, 2019

Looking to see if anyone else has come across this and what if anything resolved it for them. We use SL360 for our exam courses where a student might spend up to 2 hours completing. Occasionally, no completion or results are sent or received by the LMS. At some point connectivity with the server is lost (not an internet outage) and never re-establishes, the student continues with their exams. Later, when we look in the LMS, no completion has been recorded. I'm curious if anyone has found a way to introduce a handshake (via a trigger or piece of code) to wake the server and re-establish connectivity prior to receiving completion data when the student reaches that point. Most students are fine, but we do find some networks are particularly difficult. Thanks, David

I know the article states "internet connection" but anytime the course loses connectivity with the LMS and cannot commit their data this message would pop up. Even if the user cannot reestablish connectivity in that session, it might prevent them from completing the rest of the course and then being surprised that their results weren't recorded.

Brian,

I noted the flash output article in my initial note to Support, but as things are more stable overall in HTML5 these days, I can't see us moving back there. Gerald pointed out some debug options that might allow us to minimize drops and/or possibly notify the students when it occurs. So I'll chase that rabbit for a while.
