Lost SL2 Characters

Hi there Gwen! Glad to hear you're checking out Storyline 3. 😀

The characters window in Storyline 3 is now organized alphabetically by the character's name, so you'll see the photographic characters are mixed in with the illustrated characters. Are you not seeing the photographic characters there?

Hi, I just upgraded to SL 3 and am very disappointed that the photographic characters are not included. I don't see the photographic characters you've shown here. Am I missing something?

Hi Renuka! Could you share a screenshot of what you see when you click Insert >> Characters in Storyline 3? You can attach it directly to this thread by clicking the Add Attachment button in the reply window.

Thanks, Renuka! Did you purchase the character pack or bundle in the past? If so, those characters will also work with Storyline 3, and you should see them there. Reach out to our Support team here if you need access to a character pack that you previously purchased.

If you did not purchase a character pack in the past, then you'll see 40 classic-illustrated characters and one photographic character (Atsumi). 

When I purchased Storyline 2 there was a promotion going that when it was purchased I received the Volume 1 character bundle.  I noticed before I upgraded to Storyline 3 that all the photographic characters except Atsumi were now missing.  Should I still be able to access the others since they were included in my original purchase?

Yes, as Alyssa mentioned those characters should still work with Storyline 3. Perhaps they were uninstalled by accident? If you need the link to install them again our Support Team can help!

If you see the characters in Storyline 2, that would indicate that they were installed and then I'd definitely want to connect you with our team to dig deeper. 

I took a peek under the hood with the Illustrated characters and the file name and formatting was changed for SL3. The old character files cannot be read by SL3 and the classic illustrated characters are resaved under the new format .  Could the photographic characters have been changed as well and now SL3 can't read the old file formats?

The illustrated characters changed slightly in Storyline 3 and 360 due to the inclusion of the new modern illustrated characters in Content Library. The photographic characters added new characters, but not a change in the overall structure (classic vs. modern). 

I checked my installation of Storyline 3, and I am able to see and use the characters I had downloaded and installed from Bundle 1. Are you having difficulty accessing those in Storyline 3? 

I located my original email and downloaded the characters again from the link. I double checked in Storyline 3 and they are there and I was able to use them. Thank you.
