Low quality Images

Apr 05, 2019

Hi there!

I am having an issue with image quality when I insert images from my desktop into storyline. I have tried exporting the storyline file and the problem still persists. The images I am inserting into storyline line are of these dimensions: image 1= 2481 x 3509 pixels, image 2 = 1182 x 734 pixels.

Hi, what are the sizes of the images? The dimensions would seem to indicate quality images, but if they are small, e.g. under 1 MB then that might be an issue. If I understand correctly, you are experiencing the problem from when you bring the images into SL. You can select the quality of the images when you publish them, but if the issue is from when you bring them into SL then the quality you select for publishing won't really help you.

Hi Noel,

Thank you for your reply. Image 1 is 285kb and image 2 is 105kb.

I experience this problem when I go into preview mode in SL and when I publish them. However, when insert the images into the 'main menu' default screen, the quality is fine.

How can I select the quality of the images when publishing?

Hi Louis, I have attached a pic of where you can set the quality of the image when publishing.

You should also check the Story Size (I've attached an image of where this is set). If you Story Size is small it compresses the image and then if you have the Player set to 'fill screen' it will pixelate the image to fit the screen when you preview or publish. Check out your story size (after saving a copy of your work first) and make it bigger and then preview and publish to see if this helps.

Your file sizes are also on the low size. For images that fill most of the slide my file size would be close to 1mb or higher.
