I have a drag and drop interaction where users are stacking cubes into a larger box.
I would like for the front right edge of the box to be visible after the cubes are dropped onto the box, so it looks like the cubes are "inside" the box.
I have separated out the front right edge onto a layer that always appears on top, but even then the dropped cubes cover it up:

I have tried putting the front right edge on a separate layer, but I'm going to go through your video carefully to see if I'm doing anything differently. If that doesn't work I'll try your state trick.
The fix was pretty easy - I had the layer with the front right edge set up properly, but I had another layer (for a different part of the interaction) that had the "hide other slide layers" checked, so that was causing my front ride edge to be hidden.

You could try adding a layer with that line on it. Then when any object is dropped on the target have a final trigger that shows the layer.
You could change the state of the box to an image with the object inside and then have the drop object hide when dropped on the target
