I have made a 'button' by combining two arrow shapes - is there any way to make this composite shape behave as one so that I can add hover and down button states and apply triggers? If I just group the two shapes I can't apply states to the group. I know I can do it if I just use a graphic but I imagine the shape option will be 'sharper'.
Hi, Pat -- Thanks for reaching out here! Unfortunately, I am not aware of alternative methods for what you have in mind, but you are welcome to share your file in case others have some ideas to suggest based on your set up.
Have a look a the the attached file. Unless I misunderstand, you can create buttons from any combination of shapes. All you need to do is select one shape and then start editing/adding states and within the states add other shapes.
Hi Michael - Thank you so much, I didn't think of doing it that way, I was starting with both shapes grouped, but when I started with just one shape and added the second within the states it worked pefectly. Delighted!
Another thought for anyone trying this - to avoid 'flickering' I added a shape the same colour as the background (otherwise, for example, the hover state won't be apparent in between the shapes)

Hi Pat! I know you achieved what you wanted, but also, because you mentioned not being able to add states to a group, I wanted to throw this discussion out there- it's an interesting workaround in case you ever did want to add "states to a group!"
Thanks for highlighting Crystal. Noticed in thread that Jill McNair gives good video @ //https://player.vimeo.com/video/149069993 of Phil's workaround.
Hi, Pat -- Thanks for stopping back to pass along that link! Hopefully it will help others who come across this thread seeking assistance, as well. :)
