Making a photo shrink to a smaller version?

May 20, 2013

I've searched on here and can't find what I'm trying for and I can't figure out how to do this.

On one of my slides, I have a couple of photos. The first photo to show, I want it to start at full size and then shrink down to maybe 40% while another image shows up.

Can someone tell me how to do this? I've played a bit with states but it doesn't seem to give me enough control over what I'm trying to do.

Hi there Jason!

You should be able to do something pretty close to what you'd like to see by using animations and a copy of the original image.

Here' s a quick example:

Example for Jason

In that example I used one main, large image. I created a copy of the image and scaled it down to a smaller size. I used some entrance and exit animations (fade in/out) on both images and arranged them to appear in the timeline so they "flow" through the animations and appear as though the image is shrinking.

You could probably get a little fancier with this :) Hopefully this suggestion will at least help with getting started.

Good luck with the project!

thanks guys. Brett, I tried that one and it would work well but my image is inset from the bottom corner so when it shrinks away, it makes this weird little jog to the edge of the slide and pulls it out of the area it should stay in.

Christine, I've got your method in there now. I think it'll work ok. I'll see what my testers say on it when they get to that slide.
