I have two layers on a slide. I can get the first one to show when I want it (user clicks the next button). However, I don't have the option with the second layer. What am I missing?
Thanks for sharing your file. In order to show a layer, you will need a trigger to "show layer" I placed buttons in your file to show this. However, you do not need to use a button. You could trigger these to show at a certain point in a timeline, or any of these When triggers:
If you want the elements on the second layer to appear when the timeline starts - you could set that as a trigger as Emily mentioned, or include all those elements on the base slide. If you'd like there to be a delay of showing the items, you could include an offstage object that starts at say 5 seconds, and set the layer to show when the timeline on that object starts.
Attached is an example of a way to do this using the timeline and only one layer. You could place these items to show in any order in the timeline as well.

Hello Kendra,
Do you have a trigger set up to show the second layer?
You could share your file here if you would like us to look at your set up.
Emily,
I am new to Storyline. However I have gone through training, but am still learning. Attached is my file. Please look at slide 1.2.

Emily,
Thanks for your help. I do not want the buttons. I would rather do the timeline. Therefore, I really don't need layers? I'm still confused. Sorry.
