Managing a huge project

Jul 21, 2014

Hi,

I have a certification course, consisting of around 20 scenes, and some of the scenes get quick complex, with multiple branching paths, so I'm going to end up with something like 400 pages. The storyline file is very large, and takes forever to refresh after a scene is updated.

Is there a way to break a large project up into smaller 'chunks'? I could develop each scene as a separate project, then merge the scenes after they've been developed and debugged. Or is there a way to bring multiple storyline projects together into a single 'course'? The course won't be running under an LMS.

Regards, Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Absolutely! I actually highly recommend this to any and all developers that work with extremely large projects.

What I suggest is to keep the scenes in separate project files. This way, you can easily keep track of the topics for the scenes, avoid the slowness of extremely large files and easily reuse the scenes in a new project, or combine them.

The following tutorial will walk you through the process of importing from an existing Storyline project:

In the meantime, if you have any trouble or questions, please let us know!

I hope this helps!
