You can loop a layer with the same image above your object, with glow effect on it. Select the layered glow object , and give it an entrance and exit fade of about .5 sec . The timeline should be about 1.5 sec long. If it's on a button you will have to give it some matching triggers though.
To make a looping layer create 2 triggers on the layer. 1. hide "This Layer" when timeline ends 2. Show "this layer's name" on start timline.
*make sure hide this layer when timeline ends is unchecked on the layer preferences cog.
