Marker Behaviour

I use markers quite a lot, however, often experience "sizing squoinkiness", such as image below, where the Marker seems to want to apply a slider when there's no need to.
Is this anything that other have experienced?

PS - no, I cannot submit it, because each time it happens I mess around until I mend it, because it is always on a live project, and time is (usually) money.

Hi Bruce,
A couple of reasons for this come to mind. First, be sure you don't have a couple of extra carriage returns at the end of the text.
But more likely is the fact that the appearance of the marker contents layout while authoring is not always the same as when previewed/published. How does your panel appear when you Preview it? It may be that that the words "Procedures," "of," "further, and "the" actually word wrap to the next line when previewed or published.
Not sure if either of the above apply in your case but they may be worth investigating.
Thanks Steve.
Carriage returns not the issue, but next time it happens I will have a better look-see in terms of the Preview vs. the slide view.
Thanks again.

Hi,
I am using markers to show some steps as 1, 2, 3.... However, I need to write a instruction for users to click the market to know the detail. Not sure what to write.. something like "Click on each red circle to get the step detail"... not sound great. How to do this?
I usually just say something like "Click on each on of the numeric markers to learn more about the steps in a cleaning procedure", (or whatever...)

I am having the same issue as Bruce Graham. I do not have any extra space or carriage returns at the end of my text, but when I resize the text box it applies the scroll bar. The "format shape" properties box is grayed out and does not let you change the properties for Autofit and/or Text Box layout. Any suggestions on how to turn off the "scroll bar" that magically appears??
Hi Dana and Bruce,
I'm afraid I'm not having any luck reproducing this on my end. I wonder if it's an issue related to formatting, or what.
I have noticed that when I first resize the description for the marker and it's not "tall" enough for the text, the bar will appear. After adjusting the height, though, the bar disappears for me. So the description is "skinny" and the text fits, but I can't seem to break it.. I guess that's a good thing, but without creating the problem I cannot suggest a fix for it.
Dana, looks like Bruce may not be able to share a file where he's seeing this issue. Are you able to post the .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a look and see what's happening.
Thanks!
