Hi, I'm trying to match an object state position to the same object on another layer, but it seems to have some gap between them. I've done it many times and it works but sometimes it doesn't work. What can I do to fix it?
Hi there, Lizeth. It sounds like you have an object on the base layer, and a duplicate object on the slide layer, and the motion path is applied to only one of those objects. Is that correct?
If you can share your .story file here, it might make it easier for the community to offer suggestions!
Hi Crystal. Thak for your response! I have an object on the base layer but when I copy and paste the object on a slide layer the position changes when I preview the scene. I have a video, let me show you.
Thanks for sharing the video so that we could understand what you are seeing in your course.
When you copy an item, the paste is a bit offset for the convenience of identifying the object.
There is a keyboard shortcut in Storyline 360 for Ctrl + Shift + D to Paste object in the same place as the original object.
Layers are designed to place content on top of the base layer, so I'm curious if not hiding objects on the base layer would be an easier solution for you since you've already built all of the items needed.
Another thought is to use the size/position window under the Animations Tab to get the items on the same X/Y position.
Actually I'm using Ctrl + Shift + D to Paste object in the same place as the original but it doesn't work and I also tried using size/postition tool but when I have a state object, the coordinates are different (The difference is too big between both).
Thanks for letting me know that you are already using the paste-in-place keyboard shortcut, Lizeth.
Those images are with the game pieces in two different locations, so the difference makes sense.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
