Matching pairs

Nov 15, 2016

Hi there,

I love the idea of the matching pairs, however I was just wondering if there is a way to extend this so that I had 3 options so that I could have match the technique with the correct description and example ?

Yes I used trigger and state changes. So when the user clicks on object a, b and a and the states are the same its correct and stays in this state. If the three states are not the same a seperate layer with a big fat X shows up and goes away after a few seconds. After the X disappears they turn around again.

What do you want to do with drag and drop? Could you share your slide with us?

Hi

On the second slide I set up a matching drag and drop to link a technique with a description.  I want to now add an example so that they have to match all 3.

this first slide I have created 3 text boxes to try and get the triggers to work to select the correct boxes, but I am not have much luck so far.

So I build your exercise like mine. Look at the attached file. You can easily change the look of the rectangles/font/etc.

I used several variables. One to count how many you picked and for each set of elements if the picked elements are the matching ones. I inserted 2 layers which shows if after 3 picks the picks are matching or not. The textfields all around the elements are only for you to visualize whats going on and which variable changes when, you have to delete them or put them out of the slide when you are done testing. :)

Hope it helps and is like you want it to be. Please let me know if you have any questions about anything I build.

With variables you can do a lot as you can see. Counting to a specific number, true/false conditions or text entry. The only challenge here is to keep track of what you have triggered already and what not. :D But most of the triggers you can copy and paste as you can see in the list. If you have some time try to build it yourself so you can really learn how to use variables.

Thank you Susie,

Once I saw what you had done I knew where you were going with it, I am not used to all the options in the triggers yet.  I had it all sorted in my head, including wanting to count the number of clicks to report back at the end as to how successful they had been.  Just need to figure out how to transfer the ticks and crosses into a results slide now and put some content at the beginning and I am all sorted.

If you want to show an intro text at the beginning of the exercise you can create a layer which shows up when the timeline of the base layer starts. Thats a simple trick to ensure all your elements you need for the exercise to count for the result slide are on the base layer. The user then can click a "begin/start exercise" button and this layer closes. Pretty easy to adjust too, because you have your text on a seperate layer and not also on the base layer which could become very crowded with too much elements.
