Maximum number of layers.
Nov 27, 2019
I know there was a similar discussion 6 years ago and someone was saying that the performance of Articulate Storyline is not affected even if the number of layers is high. That person was citing a Phil Mayor who created a periodic table with 120 layers and no issues (the link to this project broken, btw). So, I created a slide (to teach numbers in French) with 100 layers, each triggered by hotspots located on the base layer. Each layer also has a small mp3 file (36KB). The result, 5 minutes and 22 seconds are needed to generate a preview. Is there a better way of doing what I did? Because right now, even though my slide works beautifully, this project is pretty useless. I can't possibly wait 5 minutes everytime I want to check a preview. Thanks for your help :-)

This first time you preview it will render everyone of the videos which will take time subsequent previews should be faster. Although 100 layers with videos will still take a little time.
I think the periodic table had 240+ layers in the end and does take a while to preview.
It can still be viewed here http://elearninglaboratory.com/portfolio-item/periodic-table/
Thank you for your prompt reply. It is still painfully slow even after previewing it a few times. I decided to save that particular slide as a stand-alone and when I finish my project, I will eventually import it back into my project. It's not very elegant but it'll do the trick. Thanks again.
