How do you make the menu tab selectable by the learner (stand- alone)- click on the menu tab and it opens - click it again and it hides? I want to be able to use all of the slide space for content.
Looks like Walt has popped in to assist you here and if you were not looking to build custom, you could simply move the built in player menu to the Topbar Right or Left if you wish. Check out this tutorial.

1. I think the menu is added to the slide, and you don't lose any real estate to it.
2. I'm pretty sure that isn't something SL does. You have to build your own. Here's a sample to get you started, if that's what you want ot do.
