Menu Check Off in Storyline?

I am trying to create a check mark to the right of a menu item once a specific scene is complete. I'm sure this involves layers, but I don't know how to put in the various parameters to 1. tell Storyline to track when the scene is complete and 2. how to tell Storyline to display the check mark next to that menu button. This is the end result of what I want to see.
