When you're previewing the course, are you previewing the entire project or just a particular slide or scene? If you're doing the latter not all the menu functions or even triggers will work as expected as you're isolating the preview to that one slide/scene.
I'm not able to replicate any unusual behavior with a scene with just one slide - I can click on it within the menu and am brought there, and then can continue to navigate to other slides. How have you set up your navigation within the menu:
Free: This allows learners to click on the titles in the course's menu to navigate to any part of the course at any time. They can view whatever slides they wish, in any order.
Restricted: This means learners can view the current slide and any slide they've previously viewed, but they can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides.
Locked: This means learners can only view the slides in the order you've designed. They can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides, nor can they use it to skip back to any previously viewed slides.
If you've used restricted or locked, they won't be able to jump ahead using the menu as mentioned.
Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.
If you're still having difficulty after checking into those items above, can you share your .story file here with us?
Are you able to replicate this behavior on a brand new Storyline file? If not, I'd suggest importing your existing file into a new Storyline project as described here. Additionally, if the behavior does persist in a new file, it's also worth conducting the repair of Storyline.

Hi Ashley,
The preview is made with the entire project. All my other scenes contain more than
one slide and they work as the should.
My problem concerns just this single scene containing one slide.

Also, if you've set up free navigation or restricted and they're trying to access a slide previously seen, it's worth checking that you're also following along with the guidelines here for working with Storyline:

Hi Ashley,
Thanks again for thorough walkthroughs on the sometimes winding paths of Storyline.
I have though made all necessary tweaks and settings mentioned above, with meagre results.
Still I cannot make my one slide within a scen possible to navigate to via the menu.
All my slides are set to Free.
Since my project is under a protected stage I unfortunately cannot share it - I'll have
to try to figure it out on my own.
Big thanks anyway!
