Menu formatting issue - HTML5 - classic player

Apr 08, 2019

Hi, We have produced a course for a client that uses the classic player and menu. There are no navigation restrictions, it is set to Show a tooltip on hover, Auto-collapse menu as learner progresses and auto number the entries. On reviewing here in Chrome and IE11 it works as expected. The client however gets avery different experience. 1 menu item appears at a time, there is a scroll bar. It seems to affect both Chrome and IE. We have tried having the menu as side item on the left and also making accessible from a menu button in the header. See the attached pictures. Any help would be gratefully received...

Hi Dave,

Thank you for sharing what your client is experiencing with your published output and for the attached images to demonstrate the difference.

Are you able to replicate the behavior that your client is seeing?

How are you publishing and sharing the content? Are you able to replicate in another environment?

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi Leslie - thanks for the follow up. Today I have heard that the reported issues do  not occur when the client runs the course through their LMS. I think the issue was some sort of filtering/content restriction on their network. They are a bank, so have a tight controls. I am still intrigued as to why it would mess the menu up - can understand active content/video etc being restricted, but not how it would mess the menu up...

All the best,

Dave

Thanks for the update, Dave. Glad it's working well for them now.

I've not seen the issue displayed in your image, so I do not have an insight either.

I do know that when you view a Storyline 360 course on your local hard drive, you can encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that can cause various features of the course to fail. This is why we advise uploading and viewing in the intended environment
