Menu Restriction crashes/locks up course

I have a course with a side menu and I have chosen 'restricted' from the menu options.
I am using the restricted option as its an induction module and I do not want learners jumping ahead or skipping sections. I am showing the menu as I would like to show learners how far they are through the course and what topics are coming up.
I find when a learner gets on, they tend get a bit click happy and during the opening video they try to click ahead on the menu, and what happens is the video plays out normally but the next slide transition does not occur, the course freezes. If the learner was not to click on the menu during the video the course progresses and transitions fine.
It seems the clicking on the menu during the video crashes or disrupts the normal flow of the course in 'restricted' mode. Can anybody explain what is going on or what I am failing to do?

Hi Andrew,
I'm sorry to hear about the odd behavior of your course, and I'm curious to know how you're testing the course and seeing this behavior. Where are you hosting the course (web, LMS, CD/local, etc.)? Also what browser or Flash version are you using to play the course, you'll want to use one of the recommended options here? If you've published for web or LMS you'll want to ensure you're testing within the intended environment and not testing locally as that could cause elements of your content to fail as indicated here.
If after checking into those items you're still having difficulty could you share a bit more about the set up, testing methods and a copy of your .story file here with us for additional review?
