Menu Restrictions by User

Aug 03, 2016

We want to restrict/unrestrict a module's menu based on who is viewing (i.e. some people can navigate freely; others can only view slides in chronological order).   We already know how to track who is viewing, but we don't know how to then assign free/restricted to the menu properties.

We are not interested in having two separate versions of the same module.

Any ideas?

Hi, Betty -- Thanks so much for reaching out here! Unfortunately, aside from creating 2 separate versions of the course, one restricted and one unrestricted, and then assigning to learners accordingly, I am not aware of a method to suggest for what you have in mind. Perhaps you may want to consider posting your query over in our Building Better Courses forum for additional insights, or maybe others here will have some suggestions they can offer.

Hi Betty,

There isn't a way to restrict the menu based off the user's status. You'd likely need to create something custom using the slide navigation and variables based on who is viewing - but it can't be connected to the menu.

Hopefully others in the community can share ideas about what they've done to accomplish this.
