Menu Toggle in Player

Aug 08, 2012

I am wondering if for storyline publishing, we have the behavior that we have with studio.  i.e. when we publish we can have a toggle button that toggles between the different views - one with just the slide view, the other with the menu view.

Reason - I like to give the user the flexibility to view the menu but at the same time I want the user to see the concept in the slide only view as well.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Thanks,

Payal

YMMV but, as a matter of opinion, I always hated that darn little button.   Call me a control freak but I always wanted the learner locked in on what I wanted them to see or not defeat any branching or other effects I might be doing.  I prefer a lean interface for the learner with the minimal of things for them to click.

I was glad Articulate finally let us make it optional with Presenter.

That said, good luck with your request--as long as it's an option.

Just submitted a feature request for the same.

I agree with you Gerry.  There are scenarios where you don't want to give that much flexibility.  However, that being said, I definitely would like to for us to have an option to include the "menu toggle button" on the player.  That way things are completely in our control - when we want the user to be in control and when we do not want the user to be in control.

Actually I was typing this up, I remembered that we can actually implement menu or no menu for specific slide.

Here is the portion of interest:

Player features

By default, each slide will include the features that you selected for the player.  However, you can customize which player features appear on each slide by selecting “Custom for this slide” from the Player features drop-down list.

So using this feature I can actually kind of implement the balance of flexibility and control.    Yeah...I kinda solved the problem, at least for now...:)

Hi Payal,

I mst say that I fully agree with you. I do miss the button and although the screenr shows a nice way to shown the menu for one slide it does not allow the possiblity to have a search function when downloaded to the iPad using the Mobile Player. And that is exactly what I am looking for. One can shape a training in each form that is suitable, the search function for a particluar word (or words) is very handy. I have made a feature request for this. Hope it helpes

Regards,

John
