Menus and toolbars inactive when Storyline opens

Mar 04, 2020

I have a recurring problem, whereby the File, Home, Insert, Slides, and Design menus/toolbars are inactive whenever I open a Storyline file. This happens multiple times daily, with any Storyline file, and I often have to open a file five times or more before those menus become clickable or active. Additionally, Storyline does not allow me to click to switch between Story view and a specific slide. The program is basically inoperable unless I open it a bunch of times.

I work on the C drive exclusively, on a Windows 10 machine. I'm using Storyline 360 and I'm updated to the latest version. I do not have admin privileges, and I will not be getting them.

Does anyone have a workaround or solution to this?

Thank you.

**post updated to remove my cranky tone, sorry

Just in case anyone else has this problem, my colleague helped me find a workaround:

I work on multiple monitors, and I undock the timeline, slide layers, and trigger panel. I have been able to fix this issue on several files by simply moving the undocked timeline to my main display, and then dragging it back to the extended display. After I do that all the menus/toolbars are functional again.

**ugh, I edited this one for cranky tone too
