Migrating a presenter13 project to SL3

May 03, 2018

Can anyone tell me if there is a (easy) way of converting my Presenter 13 e-learning to Storyline 3... (SL3 upgrades my SL2 projects automatically - it woudl be nice if the same can be done for Presenter 13 files!!)

Thanks

Hi Patricia!

This tutorial on importing Powerpoint slides into Storyline 3 is a good place to start. If you're importing a PowerPoint file that includes Articulate Presenter resources (such as audio), be sure the *.ppta file is located in the same folder as the PowerPoint file. Otherwise, Storyline will import only the PowerPoint slides, not the corresponding Presenter resources.

One more tip: when importing Microsoft PowerPoint content into Articulate Storyline, most features in PowerPoint and Articulate Presenter are supported in Storyline, but some aren't. Check out this article for some things to be aware of when importing these files into Storyline 3.

Hope that was helpful, please let me know if you have further questions!

Hi Alyssa

Thanks for your response... I hadnt realised that I didnt need to import the *.ppta file.. it just needed to be in the same location!

I have managed to import the old Presenter ppt to SL3 however I now have another issue - not sure if it is related...

The file pays in preview; no problem. however when I publish it to Web or LMS the story_flash file plays but the story.html or story_html5.html files dont play - the attached shows what happens! the play button doesnt do anything - so it just sits here!

Any ideas what is going on here??

your assistance woudl be appreciated

Hi Patricia,

I'm not able to play back or open that file you shared, it appears to be a bit of random text on the screen.

Can you share the URL from your web server or LMS for us to test? If you've yet to upload it to that environment, that could be a part of the problem as local playback may cause you to encounter various security errors and issues.
