missing images

Mar 29, 2013

I started up the project I am working on and in story view everything looks fine. However as soon as I click on an individual slide the images for that slide have disappeared despite the fact they are showing on story view. This is the second time this has happened and I need to know what is causing it. I have attached a screenshot... all help appreciated

Hi Paul,

It looks like the file may be corrupted, but hopefully that's not the case. The first thing I would do is make sure all of your project files and image files are on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you've confirmed all of the files are local, you may want to try to pull the course into a fresh file. Create a new, blank Storyline course and import the slides from the original course into the new file. For information on how to go about doing this, please take a look at the following article:

Articulate - Importing from Another Storyline Project

If you still have trouble seeing the images, please go ahead and submit the .STORY file in a support case. We'll take a look and see if we're able to find the cause for this. You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Articulate Support - Submit a Support Case

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks!
