I have just opened up Storyline to work on a project I have been working on for months and all of my inserted pictures are "invisible". I can see them in story view but in slide view or if I preview the slide they are not there (they are still in the timeline but not present on the slide). Any suggestions?

Its better if u upload the story file or at least one or two slides of the story file in which u r having an issue.

Anomalies like this happen from time to time with some of my projects, but I can usually resolve them by importing my project into a new one.
There are also some steps you can take to avoid unexpected behaviour as described here.
If the issue still persists, I'd recommend that you raise a support case and include your project for them to look at.
