In my course, students could select "Resume" or "Restart" when revisiting the course. I added a sign-in first page where the student must enter their name before proceeding to the course. After doing this, I no longer have the "Resume" or "Restart" option when I revisit the course. Can you help? I am using Articulate 360 with current updates and the "Modern" player. The Articulate course is over 140 MB, so I'm not sure if I can attach the .story document.
Sounds like some quite unusual behaviour! I'd be happy to have a look and see if I can see what's causing it. Maybe you could save a copy and only share a version with a few slides to cut the size down?
Otherwise, feel free to connect/chat and I can try and tackle the issue with you through chat.
OK, I deleted many slides to create a smaller .story document. I tested this when I published as HTML and the “Resume” and “Restart” options do NOT appear.
I believe I've fixed it? I've just attempted it with a HTML output in Chrome and the resume/restart looked to be working again.
The two things I did was:
1. Set the first side to save the resumed state so the course could remember what the text entry was
2. Slide two looked to be using the text entry incorrect? I just changed the text box next to "Hello" to a reference of %LearnerName% rather than setting %LearnerName% - the first slide already does this, so no need to set it again.
I've attached the repaired file so hopefully you can copy the changes over to your main file - just give me a shout if I haven't made too much sense!
I made the revisions you indicated and this works in Chrome and Safari but it doesn't seem to work in Firefox. Firefox is the main browser that I use and the "Resume"/"Restart" options were working in Firefox prior to adding the sign-in page. Any thoughts?
Sounds like we're making some good progress! I don't use Firefox, so I've just installed it and opened/closed the course and the Resume + Restart button has appeared as expected and it's remembered the LearnerName variable as expected.
If I had to guess, I'd say that your problem could be related to how you have Firefox setup. Maybe you have it set so certain cookies are deleted on a browser session close so the course isn't able to save any data within the browser?

I tried to attach a smaller .story document but it seems to be stuck in my email outgoing "Send" email. Please see the attached .story document.

Hi Euan,
Great, I will revise my course and let you know if there is still a problem.
Thank you,
Debra

Yes, you are correct about my Firefox setup. I adjusted the cookies and now I can resume/restart the course. Thanks for your support.
Perfect! My pleasure.
