Missing Templates

Nov 30, 2016

I have a quite a number of templates saved locally and have always been able to access them through the INSERT>Templates feature.  Today I went to import one and found that almost all of them were not appearing.  There were only two.  Has anyone else had this occur?  I am working locally, have an up-to-date SL2 version and have not made any changes to file locations. The template files still exist and are sitting right where I left them.

Hi there Steve,

To double check, you mentioned you can still see all of your templates in My Documents > My Articulate Projects > Storyline Templates, correct?

In that case, you may want to follow the steps outlined in this article to perform a repair on Storyline 2. Please also make sure that you are working locally with all of your project files.

But to answer your question, the templates appear to be in a number of locations, which hasn't been a problem in the past. You're right however, the only templates located in the path you've mentioned are the ones that we showing up in Storyline.  Is that a recent change?  (My guess was that Storyline once was detecting *.storytemplate from anywhere on the local drive, although I could be just imagining that.)

Hi Steve,

I don't believe there have been any recent changes, but we do always recommend saving files locally and using that file path for any templates. Did you look at moving any of the templates that weren't appearing into that folder to see if they were accessible to you then when using the Insert functionality?
