Missing Titles

Dec 18, 2012

Hi heroes,

I'm finishing an Articulate Presenter presentation, I just added the last revised audio files.  It ran fine before, but now the titles are missing from every slide and some of the other text boxes have disappeared too when published in Articulate (see screenshots).  Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

Hi Linda!

The first thing I would check is DPI - this has been known to cause this problem when working with Presenter titles. Storyline will function as expected when Windows is set to 96 DPI (dots per inch).

Storyline does not currently support 120 DPI. If your system is set to 120 DPI, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:

*  Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.

*  Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.

*  Zoomed images don't work as expected.

Here's how you can switch to 96 DPI:

If you've checked the DPI settings and still have this problem, it might be related to a recent Microsoft update that's causing some issues with certain fonts. If you're using OpenType (OTF) fonts in Articulate Storyline, you may find that text doesn't look right when you preview or publish. Storyline supports OpenType fonts. However, a Microsoft Windows update released December 11, 2012 prevents OpenType fonts from rendering properly.

We provided a programmatic workaround for this issue in Update 2 for Storyline. Please review the following article for more information:
Let me know if the text still doesn't show after checking all of the information above.
Thanks!

Hi Linda,

I apologize for the confusion, you posted this in the Storyline section of the forums, so I was under the impression you were importing the Presenter content into Storyline. DPI may still be a factor here, it wouldn't hurt to check it.

Articulate Studio '09 is only supported with a system DPI setting of 96. If you're using a DPI setting other than 96, you'll encounter erratic behavior in the desktop applications and the published output. The following list provides some examples of unexpected behavior that you may encounter:

*  Elements of the application appear misplaced or distorted.
*  When previewing, content is distorted.
*  The published output is distorted or doesn't display correctly.
*  Annotations are misplaced.
*  Lengthy slide notes won't scroll when recording narration.
*  Your logo doesn't display correctly.
To resolve these issues, change your system's DPI to 96. Here's how:
Presenter '09:

It is quite possible that the Microsoft update will cause issues with Presenter, yes. This is because it effects fonts, not just specific software. Quite a few software manufacturers are dealing with this issue now and we're working on a fix as well.

You will not need to remove any fonts. If you take a look a the article I posted earlier, you'll just need to uninstall the KB2753842 update. Even though the article is for Storyline, this works for Presenter as well.
