Mobile App Problem

Apr 04, 2018

I have published a course with the AMP mobile app and view offline option.  Uploaded the scorm 1.2 to LMS and login in as the user. In my LMS i have also ticked an option called "the course is mobile compatible". Now when I run the course I get the window with a "Launch" (blue color) button but the mobile app doesn't start.

A sequence of activities I tried only for better understanding the case.

1. The app started for the very first time i.e when I started the course and app was not on my android mobile. It asked me to download the app, I installed and the course started.

2. Only the SWF file which was present in the course dint run.

3. I logged out to checked the issue with SWF and I removed the option from my LMS "the course is mobile compatible" so as to check the course compatibility with google chrome browser.

4. The course started but without all the SWF files with a message, chrome doesn't support flash.

5.  So again I changed the option in LMS "the course is mobile compatible" and started the course in chrome browser "launch button screen" appeared but the mobile app didn't start. I tried number of times but couldnt succeed.

6. I published the one slide course with FLV video, with MP4 video with multiple options to resolve SWF problem and the publishing option available with articulate - with HTML, AMP and with both every time the chrome browser starts the course in HMTL but the video doesn't start nor the mobile app.

Please help ....

Hi Mahendra,

Looks like you've done a lot of troubleshooting so far, thanks for sharing those steps!

It sounds like you're hitting a couple roadblocks though, that are all connected:

  • SWF files are Flash-based, and won't play in the HTML5 or AMP output. You'll need to view those on a Flash-enabled browser, which is not available on the majority of mobile devices.
  • The Articulate Mobile player is available for iOS and Android devices that are supported here.  What device were you viewing the Chrome browser on?
  • Hosting content in the AMP app and your LMS, may require publishing for Tin Can API to pass the credentials of the user to the app, also to allow content to be tracked in your LMS you'll publish for Tin Can API and your LMS provider has implemented Tin Can API support.
  • If you publish for SCORM or AICC but you don't need to track learners' results, you may still be able to view content in the Articulate Mobile Player. Some learning management systems will allow it, while others won't. You'll need to test your content in your LMS environment to determine if it's supported.

Finally, I'd also want to make sure you're using the latest Storyline 2 Update as there were some compatibility issues we fixed with iOS 9 as well.
