Modern Text not displaying well some fonts

Jan 15, 2020

Hi all, I have encountered the issue I will describe hereunder several times now...it is not related to a specific file, but rather to specific fonts. In the screenshots attached you will see the same slide from a course published with Modern Text enabled and without it. The file received from the client has this feature enabled, but unfortunately the font URW DIN does not display well. After disabling the Modern text, and re-publishing it is displaying well. This happens in all browsers. We have experienced the same issue with the font Brandon Grotesque, in a different project, and other that now I can't recall...So I would like to know why is this happening.

Hi Selene,

Have you had a chance to test those fonts in Microsoft Word or Powerpoint? If so, how are they displaying in those applications?

If you're able to share the font files with us, we are more than happy to take a look at what you're seeing and determine if there is an issue with how that font interacts with Storyline. You could share the files with us privately here

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your reply. They display well in any other application (see screenshot from Word and PPT) and they even display well in the Storyline file itself, they do not display well when publishing.

I am sharing now, a sample Storyline file I have created with 3 fonts, as an example, also 2 published versions of them. One created with Modern text activated and one without. I am also sharing the 3 fonts, but as mentioned this are just a few examples. These are not the only fonts that have this problem. The file was created from scratch just to show this. I have shared the files to the link provided in your reply.

You also can see in the screenshots attached, that not on only the problem is about not displaying the font well, but for the first and second row some characters with accent do not display well but not necessarily all of them and they all have the same font.

Regards,

Sele
