Modifying published paths

Mar 07, 2013

Hi, is there a way to modify the folder paths in the publish? Since each publish is called story.swf and comes with folder story_content, I need to put them into individual folders on our FTP. Unfortunately, I can't use the HTML pages in their respective folders—I am pasting the HTML code elsewhere, so I need to be able to point the code to right folders. Hope that makes sense...thanks!

Hi Irine,

With the Web, LMS, CD and Word publishing methods, you'll be able to save the output to whatever directory you'd like. When publishing your course, you'll see a "Folder" option. Click on the "..." to the right of this and then choose the directory or folder where you'd like to save your published files.

It'll look like this:

Though, you won't be able to "split up" the content into different folders using this method. If I'm understanding what you're trying to do, though, I'm not quite clear on why you'd want to move each individual file into its own folder. If you're using your own HTML to point to the course, can you not just point to the story.html file for the course?

Again though, I may be misunderstanding your question. If so, can you share some additional information about what you'd like to do?

Thanks!

Hi Christine, thanks for your reply! You're right, I'm looking to displace the HTML within the output folder. Basically the story.html file will not be used, but the code from the file will be pasted into an admin system (the course is being housed within our site template, not launched in a new window). Because of this, the code will naturally not be sitting in the same folder as the rest of the content, hence why I need to be able to point to the correct folder.

Hi Irene,

I'm afraid that's not something I've done before. I won't be able to share any suggestions for this, but hopefully some of our community members will be able to give you some advice on this.

In the meantime, you may want to post your question over in the Building Better Courses section of the forums for some additional exposure.

If you are able to find a way to do this, I would definitely like to hear about it. Please share any information you find, I'm sure others would appreciate it as well

Thanks and good luck on the project!
