Module running slow

Aug 31, 2017

Hi all,

I have created an eLearning module using Storyline 2 however when I put the module on our LMS Kalldius its running slow and sticking (not a great user journey).

I have also added this file to scormcloud to see if its the LMS or the module. It still running slow and sticking (not as much as on the LMS) but still enough to impact the user experience.

Once zipped the file is 35,371 KB (this isn't that big of a file)

Scorm 2004  4th edition

Can anyone help me? How do you bug? Is it worth me building again from scratch (I really don't have time to do this as the deadline is looming)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Helen

Hi Helen, I'm glad you reached out! You're right, a slow and glitchy e-learning course is never a good experience for your learners. I'd love to help you figure this out, and I'm sure we can come up with another solution besides building the entire module again from scratch. 😁

Would you be able to share the original (unpublished) file with me? If you can't share it publicly, you also have the option to share it privately here.

We couldn't work out what it was, I rebuilt the module twice, the only way of speeding it up was to remove the animations from the course, which isn't great but at least the users wont be tearing their hair out at the slowness!

I have been talking to my colleague, and we have both notice the steady decline in speed looking back, is there some sort of bug since the recent release in May?

Hiya,

Our issue was resolved by upgrading to Storyline 360 and publishing HTML5 only, for some reason publishing using Storyline 2 with flash either as the fall back or not was effecting how the modules performed on IE.

But as Flash is not going to be supported by IE by the end of 2019, this was the kick up the bum we needed to put a request in to update our software.  You can always down load the free trial and see if this fixes the issue for you as well.
