Motion Path move if Variable is TRUE, but stay put if Variable is FALSE

Jan 30, 2017

Hello, I am attaching a simple proof of concept file for a game we will be building. Think "Candyland" where a correct answer moves you forward along the path if you get the question right, but you stay still if you don't get the question right.  The problem is that my object moves whether I get it right or wrong. I've set up my variable thus:

Move Pentagon on ScribbleMotionPath1 when Timeline starts If Question1Correct is equal to True.  My question sets the Variable to TRUE if they click the right answer and to FALSE if they click the wrong answer.  I can't figure out why it moves every time instead of only when the Variable is TRUE.

Any other options to fix this issue? I am asking because I am facing the same problem when the trigger is assigned to the object. This was actually the idea to assign the trigger to the object in order to save time in case I need to do some adjustments in the future. I could simply change the object and mass copy/paste it to all slides instead of doing so + adding a trigger to every single slides one by one.

Hi Benjamin,

This discussion is quite a bit older, so I'd like to start from scratch with you!

What version of Storyline are you using? Are you also using the trigger on a motion path and/or with a variable? If you're able to share the file as David did, that would also help us with troubleshooting!

You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here.  I’ll delete it when I’m done troubleshooting.
