Motion Path Question

In Storyline 2, I have been trying to set up a very simple trigger to have a text box move up the screen after a certain point of a presentation.  I don't want the user to have to click anything to do this, so I figured I could either set a trigger for a cue or for a timeline point.  While this worked just fine for one scene, I am finding it simply doesn't work for another.  I've seem to run into this a few times.  Does anyone know of any "quirks" that I should know when using motion path triggers when users aren't clicking something (timeline or cue triggers)?  Right now it seems very unpredictable to me.
