I have a Storyline 2 course which has a video (mov file) on a layer. The movie is set to play only when the timeline cue triggers it to do so, a timeline cue tells it to stop and then again to play.
This works well on my pc, on the lms we uploaded it to and even on my Mac as I'm creating my portfolio. However, once I upload to my site, the movie no longer appears in my slide.
Has anyone had any similar issues and been able to resolve the problem? I don't understand why this course has worked well everywhere else I've used it, just not in this instance.
I seem to recall something similar. Check your HTML5 version, it may work still on your LMS. I think in my case I just forced it to load HTML5( story_html5.html). Everyone was happy.
I'm not having an issue with the course on an lms, but on my own personal site. Any idea why it would play from my computer but not once uploaded to my web site?
Since the movie most likely is the largest part of your SL, it could be an issue with it not downloading in time to trigger. Meaning your webHost is slower than your LMS site.
Hi, Janet -- Thanks for reaching out here! First, I wanted to send along this System Requirements sheet to ensure that you are viewing content on the Web in a supported way. Also, may I ask if you have had a chance to test your content published for Web via tempshare.articulate.com to see if it behaves the same way there, as well?
Since I'm now seeing the same problem with a Camtasia project, I think the issue occurs with the .mp4 video file that resides in the story_content folder. It's not necessarily a problem with Storyline or Camtasia but something to do with the file type.
Certainly, Janet! We appreciate that you've stopped back in to share an update, and if you have any additional discoveries in the future you'd like to share, please let us know!

That may be the problem though the file size is only 230 KB. I have a number of other larger projects playing without any issues.
Thank you for your answer.
Yup, that's a tiny tiny movie. hmmmm.
Right! And it works everywhere else. It's this kind of stuff that drives me a little batty.... I'm sure it's a simple/easy fix. But what and where?
I'll upload it to another site and test it there to see what happens.

HI Christie, thank you for the link. I've uploaded the project and it plays correctly.

Thank you though! You helped save me some time.

I was able to resolve the issue! Yeah! I had to add a mime type on my web server to play .mp4s. I found the answer in Storyline docs: https://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/mp4-videos-require-a-mime-type-on-your-server-to-play-properly
You can check it out at jchafey.com
Thanks!
Thanks for popping in with an update here Janet and for sharing your findings/solution with the community.
