I am having a recurring issue in StoryLine 2 where when, after editing my states and getting them the right size and shape so that there is a smooth animation from one state to another, I move the entire image (after clicking Done editing) to a new location or resize it, only the Normal state is moved or resized and now my animation is out of synch. Shouldn't we be able to move an image with multiple states or resize the whole object and have it make all other states proportional?
I've seen this as well. I've found that you need to get the image formatted and in the position where you want it before you add any states. If you need to move it after you've added states, you will need to delete all of the states and then re-create them if you want them to sync with the first state.
Thanks so much Dave. I thought I was going loopy. Wow that is a pain. I would like to see this addressed if possible. I am doing a bunch of animation using states (ie. walking animation) and it's really frustrating to have to re-do every state whenever I want to re-position the image.
I'd agree that submitting the feature is the best way, and so thanks Dave for sharing that link. As for the behavior, since a new state can be in a different location than the normal state, that's why you can see that happen once you start moving items around.
Thanks Ashley, yes, I did submit a feature request. I can see what you are
saying but perhaps there would be away to have an option where the states
can keep in sync. If I have a character with different positions, in
different states and be able to move that whole object to a different area
on the stage without having to change each state. Perhaps some kind of
"relative" option for the states (other states relative to the Normal
state) so that the position is relative to the main object rather than each
state having it's place on the stage. That would be great for animation. I
use states to create animation (bird flying, person walking) and loop
through it so that would be a great addition.
I like the relative positioning idea - I'm most certainly not a programmer (or even a designer) so it'll be best in their hands! Thanks for sending it along and please keep us posted if you come up with any other creative solutions for the behavior!

I agree, that would be nice.
I'm sure the regular support people would suggest that you submit a feature request.
I'll probably do that. Thanks!
